kristen fisher joins us live. pepco says they'll have the mess cleaned up in time for the drive in to work this morning. what is the progress? >> reporter: pepco has made some progress overnight. especially at connecticut and university. they have cleaned up downed trees and power lines there. but folks, this is going to be a very ugly commute this morning. behind me, this is connecticut and can he kate -- decatur you are road. downed power lines are literally blocking the southbound lanes and trees down as well. you can see traffic trying to come through. it is a really dicey situation, driving around here when it is this dark. no street lights whatsoever. unusual traffic patterns now and you can see only one police cruiser sitting here. right now traffic volume is pretty low. but keep in mind, we are starting to head into the morning rush, so we'll be keeping an eye on this situation and hopefully, we'll start to see crews out here cleaning up the trees. the problem had been the tree crews cannot get the trees o
